Max B: The Wave Returns with a Massive “Fresh Out” Purge

Released: December 22, 2025
Max B is back! I’ll admit I was never the biggest Max B fan, but I was glad to see him get out of jail regardless. When I was younger, Max’s voice kind of threw me off, honestly. But many years later, that’s not an issue like it once was. Max B is back touching the streets and has dropped Public Domain 7: The Purge (Patient Zero Deluxe), an almost hour-and-a-half-long project that feels a lot like a mixtape. So, let’s get into Max’s “fresh out” project.
Like I said, this is very much a mixtape; many songs use existing instrumentals, with Max B making his own versions of known hits. There’s nothing wrong with that at all—I’m just laying out the facts, haha. Lyrically, it’s what you should expect from Max B: player and fly talk, money, and women. It’s mostly that kind of stuff, although there are some more personal moments scattered throughout for sure. It feels like a purge of all of Max’s thoughts since he’s been away.
At almost an hour and a half, it should be no surprise that I’m going to say this is too long. Even with him coming fresh out of prison, someone around Max B should have told him this should be split into two parts, or at least refined down to the best material. While there are some good tracks here, they can get lost in the “wave”—pun intended. “Like Me” with Chinx and French Montana is a highlight, and we even get a good French Montana verse, thankfully. “Jealousy” is another really good track that has Max flexing his vocals; that style doesn’t work on every song, but it definitely works here.
Not every song here hits, but I’d say none are terrible. However, the mixed batch of songs—combined with the length of the project and Max B’s hit-or-miss vocals when singing—results in me zoning out at times. For a first step back, this is a good project, but I do think when it comes time to roll out a “real” album, the people around Max might need to help guide him and condense the tracklist.
Standout Tracks: Like Me, Jealousy, Bootsy, Scarface OG, All Of It, All I Do Is Cry
