Diving into the imagination of legendary producer, DJ and rapper Madlib is the sophomore album of his cartoon alter ego Quasimoto. Completely produced by Madlib himself, Quasimoto embarks on adventures that includes vandalism, thievery, indulgence in drugs & other hi-jinx over jazz fusion & soul laced production. It wouldn’t be a stretch to say these are probably the most warm & full of life Madlib beats publicly available & where he may fall short as a rapper, the Quasimoto character is brimming with personality & allows him to touch subjects that would otherwise be deemed too ambitious or strange. That lends to the genius of the alter ego which allows Madlib to destroy constraints completely. Along for the ride are Madlib himself, DOOM & at the time labelmate MED who delivers a heartfelt solo track. All in all, it takes the innovation of The Unseen and propels it to new heights. One can only hope that Quasimoto’s adventures don’t end here.
