Album Review: Boldy James & Harry Fraud – The Bricktionary

Reviewed By Pico Da Gawd

The Bricktionary was an album that I thought was bound to happen just off of the crowds that both artists associate with. We have heard Boldy over Fraud production before but never a whole project. The similarities both have when it comes to the quality they put into their craft in turn translates through the music by sounding authentic and easy on the ears. Projects like these prove that chemistry is just as important as the art itself.

The project starts off with “Pressin’ My Bunk” and immediately wins me over with the soulful harmonies from the production. And then Boldy comes in seconds later with the Bob Ross raps and effortlessly paints a picture. Intros are usually meant to set the pace of a project, and this one got an “A” in that department. When I heard Rabies come on and that piano started playing against that guitar, I knew this was a project that Boldy and Fraud spent good time on. Storytelling over movie-size beats is the formula for the majority of the album, and it, of course, has no choice but to work. There were a few traccs that I didn’t like because of the production or flow choice, but it didn’t water down the overall experience.

The album is a pretty solid listen and is definitely another notch on Boldy’s belt. If you’re a fan of either artist, there’s something to like here. Above-average production with above-average raps. Worth the listen.
