Album Review: Redman – Muddy Waters Too

By: Marquis “Southside_Gunn” Harris

For true fans of Hip Hop, I know plenty of folks were excited for a follow up to the classic that was “Muddy Waters”. What this project does is not only give us that same throwback vibe of the first version but also there’s a bit of a new age sound and it’s hella pleasing. This album legit feels like we’re back in the 90’s almost.

Redman himself, has some amazing punchlines and. A very distinct flow that allows him to create very captivating bars but also be simplistic enough in nature that he’s not yelling into the void but allowing the listener to catch on.

Subject matter really is important so those who rep “Brick City” will appreciate its authenticity. Weed smokers will appreciate the callouts to the high bars and the Snoop Dogg feature. Fans of classic production with different levels of crescendos will enjoy a lot of the beats here. The skits help make this album more cohesive as well, which is rare for today’s music.

The elements of Funk, and witty moments make this album feel true to who Reginald really is and for someone pushing 60, it feels like Redman never lost a single step. This is a dope project so I suggest y’all check this out.
