I think we’ve reached a point where we have to be honest about Lil Baby. Lyrically, he’s stagnant..as fuck. His flow is very mundane and lackadaisical. His production/beat choices are just like his hooks… lazy.
A 15 track, 41 minute run time is a perfect fit for an album nowadays, and somehow Lil Baby managed to make this album feel like a goddamn chore. Initially, the rapping in the beginning of the project actually was solid, not gonna lie, BUT, that’s where it ends. From the second track on, it was just your typical Lil Baby project with some thrown together songs that sound like leftovers from other projects. You have some features that cause him to be outshined. The overall rapping is basic and uninspired, and to make matters worse, his melodic vocals sounds like a spoon in the garbage disposal.
There are maybe three decent tracks. The rest suffer from either a bad beat, bad vocals, pointless lyrics, a Rod Wave feature, or just a lack of cohesion. This isn’t a project where you’re gonna be like, “Oh I can hear this being album of the year.” If you say that, you’re a liar.
Don’t even compare this to his other work, or gunna or even thugga for that matter. Just a standalone project, it’s undercooked and it’s just lacking the replay value that would keep you intrigued for more.
