Album Review – Central Cee – Can’t Rush Greatness

Central Cee’s New Project: Worth a Listen?

Reviewed By: Marquis “Southside_Gunn” Harris

Central Cee is one of those rappers whose music is more of an acquired taste. Most of the time, people are going to get tired of hearing UK Drill. The thing about UK Drill is that, from a production standpoint, it’s quite repetitive, no matter how many different mixes and styles they try to blend it with. On this project, Central Cee stays true to his sound but does manage to expand his range.

Lyrically, Central Cee delivers plenty of punchlines, and within those punchlines are understandable bars that create visuals enhancing the songs. Some of the features do outshine Cee, which isn’t necessarily a negative. However, the true downside comes with the track “Truth in the Lies.” Lil Durk is not impressive, and the sampling of that beat is also lackluster. The track with Lil Baby falls flat as well.

The project suffers from being longer than it needs to be. It definitely feels longer than 17 tracks, even though it’s not even an hour long. However, I commend Cee for being more open and honest about who he is. Overall, the project is worth a listen, so check it out when you can.
