Soulful Storytelling
Reviewed By: Malik the Villain

This is another album built on great lyricism and soul samples, and it’s something that I can’t get tired of listening to. This new project by ANKHLEJOHN is nothing short of excellent. It’s a very short project that’s only 17 minutes long, but he makes use of the brief runtime by telling visual stories over soul samples.
ANKHLEJOHN has been dropping a fair number of good projects throughout the years, and this one is just one of many. The storytelling and lyrical content are both very detailed.
He tells his life story in a gritty and immersive way that makes you want to sit and take it all in. His cinematic approach and symbolic wordplay are captivating. With a great blend of boom bap braggadocio, soul-inspired sounds, and a raw style, this is a short but fire East Coast album that any rap fan would enjoy.
What stands out in this project is ANKHLEJOHN’s ability to convey deep emotions and vivid imagery within such a limited timeframe. Each track feels like a snapshot of his life, capturing moments of struggle, triumph, and introspection. This raw honesty resonates deeply, making the listener feel a connection with his journey. It’s this authenticity that sets him apart from many contemporary artists and solidifies his place in the current hip-hop landscape.
