’10 Piece Hot’: A Mixtape Comeback
Reviewed By: Marquis “Southside Gunn” Harris

Not to be confused with “10 Piece Mild” by Trinidad James, “10 Piece Hot” is a really dope way of bringing back that former Atlanta mixtape sound that the game hasn’t had in a long time.
Zaytoven has really gotten back in his bag, providing some quality beats, and he was not afraid to kick up the bass. Yeah, it bumps in the whip. You know, that kind of pull-up-to-the-gas-pump-with-the-windows-down bump. The way each song gives off a mixtape vibe provides a sense of familiarity that makes the listening experience enjoyable, while also demonstrating to the audience that clean mixing is what’s most important, as each track feels polished.
Young Dro can flow. He can drop a bar or two every once in a while. There’s a pocket that he finds where the beat helps him become more enjoyable and energetic as the track progresses. On certain tracks like “Put It On” and “Ah Yeah,” you can really feel the energy, with the emphatic bars and a catchy hook.
Honestly, this is a sleeper album. It’s surprisingly good, and it has that replay value that’s needed for multiple occasions, whether you’re in the club or riding out in the whip. Well done here.
