A Unique R&B Collaboration
By: Malik the Villain

Dej Loaf and Jacquees really do make a good duo, and I would go as far as to say they’re pretty underrated. Starting off, you have “Just Another Love Song,” which sets the tone for the beginning of the album. The production on here is very melodic and smooth, with Jacquees and Dej Loaf’s vocals complementing each other well on certain tracks. I say mostly the first half is solid with melodic singing and smooth R&B lyrics, but towards the middle, I have to say, it does get kind of boring, which threw that off for me.
What stands out most about this collaboration is their ability to blend their distinct styles into a cohesive sound. Dej Loaf brings her unique Detroit-influenced vocal approach, while Jacquees adds his signature Atlanta R&B flair. The chemistry between them is evident, particularly on tracks like “Favorite One” and “Backdoor,” where their vocal interplay creates memorable moments that showcase their individual strengths.
Overall, I’ll say give this a listen, but you’ll only have a few songs that you’ll go back to and enjoy, with everything else just being okay and “meh.” It’s really not a bad project but does have its moments where it could’ve been better. These two are gifted vocalists, and more than likely, I can see them dropping another collaborative project in the future.
