Album Review: Dc2trill – Drank Babies 4Life

Hits and Misses in His New Release

An illustrated cover featuring a person in a lab coat mixing colorful liquids in a laboratory setting, with whimsical characters and bottles in the background.

One of the unsung heroes of the Concrete Boys, Dc2trill relies heavily on quick and witty lyrics while also providing a Dirty South sound with chopped and screwed beats, creating a laid-back atmosphere.

Heavy with features, this project allows artists like Draft Day, Boat, and Tezzo Touchdown to shine in their own individual ways, contributing to a satisfying ambiance. The flow is even and relaxed, although somewhat safe.

The album feels repetitive due to a lack of innovation. There’s no true depth or real artistry on display, which leaves it feeling empty by the time you’re finished.

While the project showcases some strong talent and intriguing collaborations, it ultimately falls short of leaving a lasting impression. In an ever-evolving music scene, where artists are pushing boundaries and exploring new sounds, Dc2trill’s offering feels like it treads water instead of making waves. It serves as a reminder of the potential for creativity in the genre, but also highlights the importance of taking risks to engage listeners on a deeper level.

It’s a decent project, but not particularly special or worth your time, as the album could benefit from being more expansive in all areas to be truly interesting.
