Exploring Faith and Flow

Now most people have a hard time digesting Christian Rap, and I know y’all are like, “Southside… aren’t you an atheist?” Yes, and I know, it’s not up my alley, but I will say for a Christian Rap album, it wasn’t as bad as I initially expected.
The dude can spit – that’s off top. His flow is very purposeful, and he’s able to have excellent breath control as he switches flows and delivers some impactful bars. You get an immediate sense of understanding for his life and what he’s gone through, as well as a sense of clarity because his life is very relatable to the average person.
Now from a production aspect, there are rap, rock, and funk vibes with this project. A variety of different sounds that have this upbeat sonic sound in some points but then can be smooth at other times.
What really stands out is how the artist manages to weave his faith into his lyrics without it feeling forced or preachy. The religious elements serve more as a backdrop to universal themes of struggle, growth, and personal transformation. This makes the album accessible even to listeners who don’t share his beliefs, while still staying true to his authentic voice.
Honestly, it’s actually not a bad listen. There isn’t “Pandering” happening so you don’t feel like religion is being used as the agenda, but more so a guy who wants to tell his story and get his message out that and he just so happens to be a Christian. It’s worth your time, check it out.
