Finding Your Groove: Wave Parker’s Uplifting Musical Journey

Wave Parker’s “A Flamingo Amongst Cardinals” sounds like a gospel soundtrack for people trying to find their way in life. It features very motivational and positive music, with lines like, “No days off, gotta get it, no slackin.” This album defines what it means to be hungry in today’s new underground scene. With this being Wave’s fourth release in six months, it’s clear that the Ohio native is starting to find his sound and place in the game, making this project a perfect introduction for those unfamiliar with his previous works.

The production on this album is balanced and well thought out, especially in terms of sequencing. The intro effectively sets the tone, thanks to Foley and MelloMatt. There are some heavy hitters in the up-and-coming G-funk lane when it comes to production on this album. At 17 tracks long, I enjoyed every beat, and Wave’s verses fit the feel of each vibe created, making each song feel complete. Last but not least, they are fun and motivational. Even the features were solid, with Khari’s verse on “Glass Ceilings” being the first to come to mind.

Overall, “A Flamingo Amongst Cardinals” is a solid project and worth listening to if you’re into lifestyle rap or simply looking for good vibes. My only gripes were some rough patches in the mixing and that some of the hooks and flows felt off or incomplete at times. Other than that, this is a significant step in the right direction and an album that will undoubtedly get more spins from me as the weather gets warmer.
