Album Review – Blake Shelton – For Recreational Use Only

This Country Icon still got it

A man sitting at a bar with his chin resting on his hand, looking contemplative, beside a colorful vintage jukebox, in a dimly lit setting.

I’m starting to see why he’s so damn popular in the country music world. There’s not too many artists that have that mass appeal and can create refreshing country music. Hip Hop is very watered down, and so is country. So it’s hard for original music to be good… in this case, it works.

There’s nothing like some smooth drums and the sound of the acoustics. They shine, while having the instrumentals take you on a journey as you get through this album. The skills of Blake are shown as he has different guitar riffs that accompany his vocals, benefitting the tracks in a very positive way.

The storytelling abilities and overall lyrical performances are done well. There’s the vocal range that would explain why he’s been on the Voice for so long. Also, he’s able to adapt his styles to fit more than just one specific type of country song. It’s honestly a solid project and it’s easy to enjoy even if you’re not the biggest fan of country.

Blake is not just a reality T.V. host, he is a seasoned veteran artist. Through years of experience and hard work, he has positioned himself on the Mt. Rushmore of country musicians from this era.

Standout Tracks – Stay Country or Die Tryin’, Hangin On, Don’t Mississippi
