Why More Chaos by Ken Carson Falls Flat

Ken Carson is a name I’ve heard more than I’ve heard his music. I’m not sure what I expected from More Chaos, but I thought it would be better than this, if I’m being honest.
I understand that this sound isn’t for me and probably never will be, but I still wanted to give it a try in an attempt to expand my horizons. This style of “rage” trap beats just doesn’t resonate with me, and I’m still surprised that, in 2025, autotune and vocal manipulation are so prevalent. There have been quite a few albums this year by popular artists who are still using vocal adjustments that I grew tired of a decade ago. I guess the people who love that sound really enjoy it, and a whole new generation has embraced it, possibly more than I ever will.
Unfortunately, I didn’t really enjoy much here—the flows, the vocals, the beats, or the lyrics. Some of the production is okay, like “Trap Jump,” “Blakk Rokkstar,” and “Down2Earth,” but I still won’t revisit these songs because of Ken’s vocal delivery. A lot of the other beats feel very similar, even songs that follow one after another, like “Live Leak,” “Diamonds,” and “Dismantle.” They’re different, but not by much.
This is one of those albums and artists that I thought I’d like, or that would be better based on the hype I’d heard around the name. Unfortunately, it turned out to be like many popular artists on the periphery of my attention. More often than not, they’ve remained in the periphery for a reason—they just aren’t for me. This album feels cluttered, chaotic, and scattered—not in an interesting way, but more like a headache-inducing way.
