A Dynamic Showcase of Growth and Energy

This album started with a lot of energy, which has been my favorite aspect of Little Simz’s music from what I’ve heard so far. I was excited as the album began. Unfortunately, that tempo didn’t maintain throughout the project, but regardless, Simz showcased herself at a high caliber, as expected.
I heard “Drop 7” last year and didn’t love it, but getting into “SIMBI” this year was the first full-length project I listened to. As good as Little Simz was on that album, you can hear her evolution in music and abilities while listening to “Lotus.” It feels like her rhymes are crisper, her flows are even more on point, and the content is as thoughtful as ever.
My favorite songs, as I mentioned, have a bit more energy: “Thief,” “Flood,” “Lion,” and “Lotus.” However, “Blood,” “Lonely,” “Free,” and others all resonated with me better than songs with similar tones or vibes on “SIMBI.”
Little Simz delivers once again with another high-quality project here in “Lotus.” I’m still waiting for the day when I might experience more energy throughout the entire project, but I appreciate what Little Simz does and the quality of what she consistently delivers.
