I’ve been excited about this project since I heard it was coming. Once DJ Fresh mentioned it would be Paul’s first featureless release, I was even more thrilled. Features are cool, but I had a feeling this would slap, and I didn’t want any features getting in the way. And I was right—this goes hard!

DJ Fresh has an uncanny ability to adapt his sound and creative skills to the MC he’s working with. Among the litany of artists he’s produced for, he always brings the sounds they need to thrive. For this project, it’s laid-back tunes with heavy Texas and Houston influences that fit like a glove for Paul Wall.

No features here were no problem for Paul; the guy has proven time and time again over the years that he’s got everything needed to succeed. Laid-back verses, hooks that reel you in, and everything laid out smoothly over the beats. Some of my favorite tracks here are “Wake Up,” “Dedicated to the Game,” “Drink First,” and my top track, “Husslin for Eons.”

DJ Fresh and Paul Wall brought a retro feeling back but with modern sounds. Staying true to Houston and hip-hop, this project is a bright spot this year! Hopefully, we get a Part 2 or sequel at some point!

Standout Tracks: “Wake Up,” “Dedicated to the Game,” “Drink First,” & “Husslin for Eons”
