West Coast Vibes: A Solid Yet Lengthy Journey

Lately, I’ve been hearing a lot about Peysoh and how he’s one of the best in the West. It surprised me since I hadn’t heard of him until very recently, and I love West Coast hip-hop. This means I need to tap in even more, and I definitely need to check out Peysoh. Well, FinallyFed just dropped, so it’s time for me to find out what Peysoh has to offer.

There’s a lot of solid content here—some good beats, solid verses, and catchy hooks most of the time from Peysoh and a few features. Overall, though, it feels just slightly too much. At 55 minutes and 21 songs, it’s a bit long, and there are slightly too many features, with almost as many as there are songs. Not every feature is a home run, unfortunately. There are probably a handful that could have been cut. It’s an easy pick, but why is Bhad Bhabie on here? C’mon.

The sound is very classic yet modern West Coast hip-hop. Bouncy beats, flows that bounce, and lyrics that represent the area are all present. There’s some similarity in the sounds here; while it’s all good, it reminds me of Shoreline Mafia’s Back In Bidness from earlier this year.

I think some condensing would have helped and been beneficial. More solo Peysoh tracks on his album would have been nice. It’s an album that may not stand out to me, but if I’m in the mood for it, I can press play and not feel the urge to skip through any tracks—I can just let it play.

Standout Tracks: BRINGBLICK, IMA GANGSTA, THUGGIN NOT CLUBBIN, POP YO POPS
