Swagger Encapsulated

Between Roc and Premier, I’m not sure how many projects people are, and have been waiting on to release. But this collab project was one that was anticipated for close to half a year at least. Since Armani Section dropped. Finally, we got it though. A short 19 minutes and 8-track collection, but better than nothing at all!
This is what you’d probably expect in a good way. Roc Marciano kickin’ fly rhymes over some dope DJ Premier production. DJ Premier is on point here, I think my favorite beats are packed up front but overall, Premier always shows out when it’s time. Dope scratches, scratched in hooks, and laid back boom bap vibes. My least favorite beat is probably Glory Hole. I like the change of pace, Roc sounded good and I like the song, but it was the one beat I was slightly less into. It’s not a track I’d skip or anything, just not my top track.
I’ve said before that some days I’m more into Roc’s flow than others, but here Roc Marciano doesn’t miss a step. For those days that I’m looking for what Roc provides, I could absolutely throw this on for a quick 20-minute dose. Armani Section was a song I enjoyed when it dropped but because I wasn’t sure when or if this album was coming, I didn’t run it too much at the time. That’s good because now I get to fully enjoy it. The swagged out feeling of high-class, drug/street raps continues throughout The Coldest Profession.
I might not quite be the Roc Marciano fan that some people are but I think this is still a very good project and one I can see myself coming back to for sure. While some might be critical of the short project, I actually like the brevity and keeping this a quick bite. Now, if it had been longer, I wouldn’t complain either. This is a duo that makes magic that I want more of. But I’m happy with what we got!
