I’m a fairly big That Mexican OT fan. I don’t agree with all his views, and that’s something I’ve gone back and forth on how much it affects my enjoyment of him. I’ve kinda landed on I can enjoy the music, but I don’t actively promote or talk about him for the most part. Earlier this year, we got the collab project with Sauce Walka ‘Chicken & Sauce’, which felt kind of disappointing. It was later confirmed by TMOT that he was let down by how that album was handled and executed. So, I was looking forward to seeing what his next solo album would be after the great Texas Technician and amazing Lonestar Luchador.

Coming in at just under 50 minutes and 22 tracks, this is That Mexican OT’s longest project to date. With a few skits, we are left with 16 tracks where TMOT is flipping rhymes, singing and flexing his roots as always. The moment that we get more into his country style are the songs that are less enjoyable for me, like Weed Eater, Baby Mad At Me feat Lil Wayne and Runnin, even though that one was the best of the 3.

Outside of those 3 songs, it sticks more to Hip-Hop. There’s less of the Mexican influence here compared to some of the other albums unfortunately but it still leans into the Texas style. Hate Being Famous is a good start to the album where TMOT gets real about the stresses that come with fame. Off The Lean is another great song that has a chopped and screwed style hook and beat that’ll bring you back. There’s some good songs here with Rap Sons, U and Me, Serrrio, Guidance and Blocka Blocka especially, but I’m not sure anything quite hits the heights of past albums. But Texas Technician had to sink in a little too, so maybe this will grow on me more.

This was a good album especially after Chicken and Sauce was a little bit of a let down. I’m not sure it’s up there with That Mexican OT’s best work but a few songs can get into a playlist and stay in rotation for sure. His flows and rhymes are on point and get really crazy at times, it’s mostly the production here that kind of holds things back for me along with the mood some of those beats bring.

Standout Tracks: Rap Sons, U and Me, Serrrio, Guidance and Blocka Blocka
