Femininity & Fury

I’ve had this on my list for a minute now. As a Juicy J fan, I stay tapped into things, and G9ngstab9by is an artist he co-signed and then worked with. After G9ngstab9by was featured on Juicy J’s “Head On Swivel” recently, there’s no better time to revisit her project, Reality Check. Coming out of Baltimore, this project showcases some hardcore female bars.

G9ngstab9by jumps right in, going off track to track. Talking her talk throughout most of the album, one thing you won’t find is G9ngstab9by on OnlyFans or shaking her ass, as she states in the title track, “Reality Check.” She’s more likely to slide on an opp and run your pockets. Bringing that raw aggression and energy that I love in an MC, there’s not a dull or boring delivery on this project.

That said, hardcore isn’t all there is. G9ngstab9by shows more depth here than it may initially seem. Songs like “Just Venting” and “Boys Tell Lies” are surprisingly introspective and deep while still packing a punch. G9ngstab9by flexes her vocal talents on both tracks and speaks some real shit. Although these two songs aren’t my usual vibe, they still hit hard.

Overall, this was a great project from G9ngstab9by; she really shines here. She picked production that fits well with her style and created some bangers to go along with them. Some of my favorite songs are “Cut Throat,” “Bad News,” “Reality Check,” “Something Nice,” “Just Venting,” and “Yea Yea Yea,” but honestly, I think this album is basically skipless unless you’re just not in the mood for “Just Venting” and “Boys Tell Lies.” This is an album I’d easily recommend to both men and women alike.

Standout Tracks: “Bad News,” “Reality Check,” “Just Venting,” “Yea Yea Yea,” & “Ate Up”
