Admittedly, Young Nudy is a bit of a gap in my modern Hip-Hop knowledge. He’s not an artist I’ve kept up with at all, and honestly, he’s not one that’s come into my purview often—though not never. So when I saw that PARADISE dropped and seemed to receive some positive reception, I figured I’d better tune in!

Coming from Atlanta, Young Nudy’s music sounds distinctly local, with thumping drums and hi-hats that mix bounce with soul. He delivers dope, laid-back vibes and chill tunes on PARADISE. “17” wasn’t my favorite track and kind of had me worried I wouldn’t enjoy the project, but after that, it transitioned into “WHAT’S HAPPENIN’” featuring Latto, which was good. I thought the album maintained a better flow after that initial track kicked things off on a rough note.

Young Nudy showcases better flows and bars than I was expecting. He leans more into the lifestyle rap lane than I would have thought given the vibe. Nudy brings in some throwback moments on tracks like “PULL UP,” and in general, it felt like there was a mix of classic and modern sounds throughout. Most of the production was led by Coupe, who crafted some great beats that Young Nudy then complemented with his fly talk. While he’s not a hyper-lyrical artist, I found this project enjoyable for the style of lyricist Nudy is.

So, now I’m going to be on the lookout for Young Nudy, ha! Clearly, I was sleeping and messing up slightly by overlooking him. I’m a bit surprised I haven’t heard of him more, but it’s probably due to the Hip-Hop circles I frequent where he’s just not as popular. I guess I’ll have to help spread the word about Young Nudy!

Standout Tracks: “WHAT’S HAPPENIN’,” “ICED TEA,” “PULL UP,” “BTA,” & “GOAT”
