Auditory Peter Pan Syndrome

It’s rare, but I’m actually scrapping a full write-up and restarting this review in full because I think my original review went too hard on Big Draco here a little bit, haha. I took a breath, burnt one, and am refocused here. This is actually the second project from Soulja Boy I’ve heard this year, the first being The Influence. Let’s dive into the positives and negatives of this project.
To start with the good stuff, Soulja Boy does rap better here than on The Influence, for what it’s worth. Because of that, even though Draco Season is longer, it actually goes by quicker. Where I’d normally say I don’t want a rapper to sing, I actually think Soulja sounded decent on Bad Girl, and even though it’s not a song for me, it grew on me a bit.
I don’t want to say there are no good moments outside of Bad Girl, but they do kind of find themselves few and far between. Soulja, even though he’s better here than on The Influence, still has a flow and scheme I just have a hard time enjoying. On top of that, I’m not really into or sure about all the content for multiple reasons, honestly: validity, maturity, etc. But when it’s also not delivered in a way that works for me, it’s just harder to let that stuff go.
I kind of wish Soulja Boy would stick a bit more to money and women for content, personally, and maybe uptick the singing a little. I’ve heard a lot worse music, but here it’s also mixed with the content not clicking for me. Maybe the next time Draco has a hit, which happens from time to time, I’ll check out the next project. Until then, I may have to skip a few of the next joints he drops.
