Dynamic Duo: Charting the Next Wave of Hip-Hop

Many in the know have tapped both Ro$ama and Monaleo as the next bubbling artists ready to take the leap into stardom. So when I heard about a collaboration between the two, I definitely had to check out the results. Needless to say, I was not disappointed with their latest drop, “Bolaji,” in which the Houston artists demonstrate why the city is a hotbed for rap.

Monaleo kicks off the song spitting scathing bars across a unique but catchy beat (reminiscent of other tracks we usually see from BigX and Ro$ama) and definitely shows her versality in matching the rapid fire pace of the leading artist. And of course Ro$ama continues his streak of consistency with a flow tailored made for this type of track. What stood out most is the chemistry of the two artists as no one clearly outshined the other. My only gripe being the hook is a bit simple and maybe selfishly I wanted a 3rd verse despite the new industry standard.

Overall, this is a track that most will definitely replay twice, and it’s a great song to blast out the windows as we approach the fall months. Hopefully, this won’t be the last time these two artists come together to drop a track, but for what it’s worth, it definitely deserves a spot on any hip-hop head’s playlist, highlighting why Monaleo and Ro$ama are first in line to be next up.
