This single from MadMaxx, the producer, features the trio of Juicy J, Rick Ross, and LunchMoney Lewis. While I wasn’t familiar with LunchMoney, I do enjoy some of Ross’s work and I’m a decent-sized Juicy J fan. So, I was looking forward to this collaboration when I first saw it. Ultimately, it both lived up to my expectations and let me down slightly, so let’s break it down.

The first thing that stands out to me is the hook—and unfortunately, not in a good way. I find it very average overall, and LunchMoney Lewis’s delivery didn’t quite sell it for me either. I don’t want to place all the blame on him; perhaps Juicy or Ross delivering the hook would have been just as mediocre, but I have a feeling I would have liked it a little better. The beat was good and contained some well-produced moments, but it also carries a bit of an outdated sound.

Juicy and Ross do the heavy lifting, as expected. Their verses sounded solid and felt genuine; neither Ross nor Juicy dived too deep lyrically, but that didn’t detract from the song, as it was never meant to be that kind of track. I believe this song would have been much better if MadMaxx had thrown in an introductory verse before transitioning to back-to-back verses from Juicy and Ross. Alternatively, if more effort had been put into the hook, something definitely needed adjustment here, as this could have—and should have—been a banger.

So there you have it: a decent song that’s really upheld by its two main pillars. While this is understandable, nothing surrounding those pillars reaches the same heights. I’d definitely be interested in more collaborations between Juicy J and Rick Ross; they have good chemistry. I won’t hold this against LunchMoney Lewis, but I hope to hear some better output from him in the future. Even MadMaxx’s beat was okay, but it didn’t quite hook me. This time around, the sum of the parts didn’t resonate as much as I had hoped.
