Lefty Puts His Foot on the Gas (Again)

This is the third release from Lefty this year and his second with JasonMartin close by. Along with Mike & Keys this time, the crew presents us I Told You So. A short 16-minute project, so I didn’t expect the same as Can’t Get Right. But Lefty delivers and sounds focused, which I like. It’s just a matter here of what songs I like and like less.
C-Murder Flow starts things off and isn’t my favorite Lefty song, but it’s not bad. It’s just not my favorite flow with the beat combo, but it grew on me for sure. Jiggy is next, and that beat is super smooth, and Lefty sounds good on it. Califa comes with a Spanish hook from pfacebabyyy. I like when Lefty blends the Spanish vibes into Hip-Hop. This hook from pfacebabyyy wasn’t my favorite, but it’s a solid track.
MWA is easily one of my favorite tracks here. I love when Lefty gets on the hard-hitting beats, and when the keys are ringing, I’m never mad. These beats just go well with his flow in my opinion. She Fell In Love With A Ese is a song I think is alright, but that hook kind of brings it down for me, and the beat I like but don’t love for sure. I Told You So is a good song. I like hearing JasonMartin on the hook, and even though it gets into a sound I sometimes lean away from, the beat still knocks and keeps me in. I saved what might be best for last: I don’t think there’s a Lefty Gunplay/Coyote collab I don’t like, and this continues the streak. Story Of My Life cracks off with the horns; Coyote and Lefty show up strong, and pfacebabyyy holds his own.
Lefty’s not the top lyricist or technician, but I like what he does, and he executes his style well. Like I said, and always say, when Lefty is focused, you can tell, and he’s on a different gear. Let’s hope that continues and he continues to link up with great producers like JasonMartin and Mike & Keys.
