Big K.R.I.T. adds a powerful signature project to help close out a stellar year in Hip-hop

The King Remembered In Time is back with a new album to round out 2025. Dedicated to Cadalee Biarritz is an album that bumps in the speakers and headphones, but it’s best enjoyed at high volumes no matter how you listen. This southern king brings back the sub-bangers and flowing melodies—one of the best out of Mississippi—and he’s been one of my favorites for over a decade now.
Coming with the car tunes, Big K.R.I.T. won’t disappoint in whatever speakers you have. “Old News” kicks the door down, and K.R.I.T. doesn’t let off the gas or brake very often. That doesn’t mean this is all high-energy, though; more so that once Big K.R.I.T. starts doing what he does, there’s no stopping him—or any reason you’d want to, as far as I’m concerned. Matter of fact, the vibe here is super chill and made for cruising, but there’s still energy and bounce brought to almost everything.
I will say I was slightly disappointed initially when I saw that Big K.R.I.T. wasn’t handling all the production, since he’s one of my favorite rapper/producers. But most of the tracks still slapped and brought that soul and feeling that I’d want from a K.R.I.T. project. “Old News,” “Gotta Do It,” “Hi Def,” and more were handled by outside producers, but none lacked the feeling I’d expect.
Big K.R.I.T. never lacks passion or fakes anything—an authentic MC the entire time I’ve known of him. But I will say I felt some of the content here didn’t hit me in the heart like some past K.R.I.T. has. The music does, but lyrically, Big K.R.I.T. might be in such a good place in life that his lyrics don’t hold that same kind of pain and struggle. It’s still there, just to a lesser extent. Something I’m happy about in a way—it’s replaced by more joy and enjoyment found in life. But I do miss the K.R.I.T. Wuz Here days at times.
A really great album from Big K.R.I.T. to help end the year. With the amazing year hip-hop has had, I want as many people to get involved as possible, so I was super happy to see K.R.I.T. get a release in for 2025. Dedicated to Cadalee Biarritz isn’t a long project, but it is a quick slab-knocker to run as you ride around—even if you don’t have a slab, lol. Big K.R.I.T. continues to show why he’s one of the best to come from the 2010s era and makes the kind of music that’ll stand the test of time. Hence why he’s a King Remembered In Time.
Standout Tracks: Old News, Hi Def, I-20, In The Rain, Celebrate the Line
