Too many cooks in the kitchen for such a simple recipe. Wiz Khalifa delivers a mundane, cookie-cutter project.

I’ve never been the biggest Wiz Khalifa fan, but I do enjoy some of his music from time to time. For instance, last year I enjoyed Kush & OJ 2 pretty well. But this year, I was surprised to see Wiz help jump-start 2026 with his album Khaotic. It’s a shorter, heavily featured project, which can cause issues if not done well. So let’s dig in!
I’d like to say the heavy features on Khaotic aren’t bothersome or distracting, but I’d be lying. There are just too many features, and not all of them are great. Skilla Baby on “RN Check” and RMR on “Head Money Trees Clothes” don’t make the songs better to me. That’s unfortunate because those tracks weren’t great to begin with, so a strong feature could have helped. Wiz gets way too simple on some of these tracks and hooks— “Head Money Trees Clothes,” “Wiz Money,” “I Put That Shit On,” and more are super simple and repetitive.
Wiz has never been a supreme lyricist to me, but some songs here really stand out as mediocre—especially certain bars. Wiz is now a streamer, and there’s nothing worse than hearing him rap “dubs in the chat.” If I think I’m too old to talk like that, then Wiz definitely is. Even though I think there are too many features, I’d also say certain ones are the standout moments—unfortunately. Juicy J, Dave East, and 2 Chainz’s verses were the most entertaining parts of this album to me.
The end of the project was a bit better than the beginning, but overall, it showcases why I was never a huge Wiz fan: simple and repetitive songs, verses filled with somewhat empty lyrics, and all delivered with a voice and style that just never really worked for me. It’s not bad as some background music, but even then, I have many more albums and artists that are similar but better than this that I’d rather put on.
