Seen as one of the “next up” just a few years ago following a historic joint signing with Yo Gotti’s CMG and Lil Baby’s 4PF, 42 Dugg has unfortunately dealt with inconsistent releases—mostly due to legal issues. Now, with those issues seemingly behind him, we get his first major release in almost two years: Part 3. While not a perfect album, it showcases exactly why the Detroit native was tapped as one of the city’s bubbling artists.

Coming in at 10 tracks, the album boasts six features. While that sounds like a lot for a shorter project, the majority of the guest spots add to the record rather than distract from it. The tone is set immediately with “IDB,” featuring Dugg lacing a bass-heavy trap beat, followed by the distinctive Detroit sound on “Fake Friends.” While the “I Got 5 on It” sample on “It Is What It Is” was a creative touch, Rylo Rodriguez’s flow felt a bit choppy compared to 42 Dugg and Lil Baby. However, the album flows well overall, and there isn’t an outright skip in the bunch. You get a bit of everything: trap anthems, strip club joints, and moments of introspection.

The production is a mixed bag featuring notable names like 30 Roc and fellow Detroit native Helluva, yet the album remains cohesive. Along with the aforementioned guests, EST Gee, G Herbo, and Skilla Baby all deliver strong verses. Labelmate GloRilla also shines on “To The Side,” a track perfectly suited for her signature Memphis drawl.

In summary, Part 3 is an enjoyable listen and a strong lead-in for 42 Dugg heading into 2026. While it may not be for the hip-hop purists, fans of that authentic Detroit flavor will definitely want to check this out. Hopefully, this marks the start of a more consistent release schedule for Dugg.
