A Masterclass in Lifestyle Rap: Short, Sweet, and Sophisticated

Released: February 20th 2026
Finally, we got the long-awaited Curren$y, Larry June, and Alchemist collaboration album. A few interesting questions surround this release; most notably, is this the end of Spitta and Al working together? Does this deliver on what fans wanted? Let’s find out!
My biggest complaint here is what many will tell you: it’s too short! Only 7 songs and not even 25 minutes. Comparatively, Covert Coup is 10 songs and only about 27 minutes, but feels like a deeper pond. Alchemist’s production here is very good; there are beats I like more than others, but at the end of the day, this is full of beautifully flowing music. “Palo Santo” stands out as a production highlight—the smooth beat with the keys that come in perfectly elevate the whole song.
As much as I like “Stars On The Roof,” it felt like a somewhat underwhelming start to an otherwise great album. Maybe the only beat I’m not fully into is on “Spiral Staircases.” But immediately after, “Everything Allocated” starts up a higher-tier run for the rest of the project. I will say that between Curren$y and Larry June, I think Larry actually shines brighter. I thought he was great on Life Is Beautiful last year when everyone else gushed over 2Chainz. That’s not to say that Curren$y didn’t come correct, because he absolutely did. I just think Larry June has been getting sharper and sharper.
My favorite songs here are “Everything Allocated,” “Spiral Staircases,” “Palo Santo,” and “Empty Pages.” The production is so amazing on those tracks that I can’t help but love them, especially when the two top lifestyle rappers pack each beat up. I always say if you’re going to come with a short project, then there’s minimal room for error. Even though this project isn’t perfect, there aren’t many flaws to find.
Did this deliver for fans who waited? Yes, it did. We wanted much more, but I can’t complain because we finally got something, and it was super dope. Is this the last time we see CurrenyandAlchemistworkingtogether? I hope not, and there are lines on this project that lead me to think they could still connect in the future. Either way, we finally got the Curren$y & Larry June collab album, and I feel happy with it as a fan of everyone involved.
Standout Tracks: “Everything Allocated,” “Spiral Staircases,” “Palo Santo,” & “Empty Pages”
Score: 9/10
