An underground diamond just waiting to be mined

Asad ill is a Los Angeles artist, but not the typical one. Instead of moving with the grain, he’s going against it. Hence Black Sheep 2. Released in January, this is a buried gem you’ve got to uncover for yourself!
The first track wasn’t my favorite—a bit too quiet to fully enjoy the dope rhymes Asad ill was laying down. Just a heads-up in case you start the album and don’t immediately love that opener. Right after that, the volume rises and the real musical magic begins. Tracks like “Black Sheep,” “Stay Sheep,” “Get Free,” “Wolves on the Fence,” “The Maze,” and more are all amazing. They deliver powerful messages with soul, strong melodies, great rhyming, and razor-sharp lyricism.
Asad ill isn’t just a black sheep pushing against the herd—he’s someone actively trying to redirect and guide the herd toward many things: the truth, a brighter pasture, and freedom from the system. He offers reminders to all of us (and to himself) that you can be a sheep, a fox, a wolf (not in the way you might think), and that it’s worth understanding how others perceive even you. The album is packed with great ideas and concepts that spark both outward and inward reflection.
A few songs I like a bit less: “Too Many Sheep” is good but quiet (like I mentioned earlier), and “War Ready” leans a little too close to drill style. I get why it fits the title, but that particular vibe just wasn’t as much my thing.
Overall, this is an amazing album. I really love the aggressive yet progressive mood Asad ill brought to it. He’s an artist I’ll absolutely be keeping a close ear on, and I’ll have to dig back into his discography at some point. I highly recommend you check out Black Sheep 2!
