Our mission at Hip Hop High Society is simple: to provide a real showcase for under-the-radar artists who are consistently overlooked or outright snubbed by today’s fabricated algorithms.

While the majority of current Hip Hop platforms are driven by clicks, clout, and whatever is trending on the timeline, we’re built different. We’re here for the love of the game—and we’re constantly mining for those undiscovered gems. A recent submission from Virginia artist Handles proves exactly why we do what we do.

Reviewing submissions can be hit or miss. Sometimes you get an eager artist still searching for their signature sound. Other times, you hear real potential that hasn’t been properly executed yet. And occasionally, you get a complete miss. But very rarely, an artist reaches out who is already seasoned, refined, and polished—someone who needs nothing more than the right opportunity to show the world what they’re made of.

That’s precisely what we have with H2 by Handles.

From the very first listen, Handles delivers a streetwise, confident flow packed with sharp rhyme schemes, dynamic cadences, and genuine introspection. His beat selection is top-tier, perfectly matching the energy and subject matter he’s exploring. Handles is a true storyteller, and you can hear the conviction and lived experience in every single lyric. As a listener, I especially appreciate when an artist lets you into their world and allows the music to reveal who they really are.

These tracks stand out in today’s climate because they’re longer and more substantial than the short, bite-sized songs that have dominated recent years. You get full verses, strong hooks, thoughtful bridges, and well-placed features—including the legendary Skyzoo and a standout vocalist named Natasha Ramos, who absolutely aces her assignment on the closing track “CHOSE TO LISTEN.”

One of the smartest moves Handles made was enlisting talented singers to handle harmonies on several hooks. Blending melodic elements with raw street rap can be tricky, but the execution here is high-caliber. The harmonies elevate the songs without softening the edge, creating a rich, immersive soundscape that feels both authentic and cinematic.

H2 serves as a superb introduction to Handles, and this project is definitely staying in heavy rotation for me. I’m genuinely excited to follow his trajectory and will be keeping a close eye on everything he releases moving forward.

If you’re a fan of introspective street rap with occasional melodic touches, this is without question a project you’ll rock with. Virginia… you’ve got another one.
