Back at the end of February Futurewave dropped the beat album, SOUNDWAVE. And what goes great with Futurewave beats? Daniel Son. So here we have Shattered Glass, a Daniel Son album of SOUNDWAVE beats and these two are as good as ever as expected.

If you tuned into Daniel Son’s French River Radio from last year, then this might feel similar. Quick tracks that have Daniel Son laying down incredible bars across full songs and shorter tracks alike. 20+ minutes across 13 songs flies by in a blink, as expected when these two link up. When I listen to some of my favorite artists, sometimes I just want to hear them, and Daniel Son can be one of those artists for me. On this album only Asun Eastwood and Sayzee were featured, but both delivered knockout verses.

This is an easy skipless album for me, but I have to mention some of my favorite tracks and bars. Lil Earl is an early banger and a track that rightfully hit a music video. Futurewave always brings a mean and musical vibe to everything and these beats fall right in line. Bear Steaks starts a run of incredible songs including favorites like Shotgun Draw and Ocean Smock where Sayzee really impressed. Late For Dinner is amazing and it starts with that haunting yet sad beat, Samurai’s Guitar on SOUNDWAVE. The last song I’ll highlight is Bow Flesh, a funky and murky beat and Daniel Son kicks a great line of rhymes: “waking up in cold sweats, they ain’t getting no rest, a victim of the post stress, I was a youngin passin road tests, poison on the arrow is death when the bow flex”.

These two don’t miss and Shattered Glass is no exception. Futurewave delivered on a great batch of beats with SOUNDWAVE and to no surprise Daniel Son stacked a masterpiece on top of a masterpiece in a sense. Sure they aren’t 1:1 track for track but I loved this quick project and will never turn down music from the top MC/Producer duo in Hip-Hop.

Standout Tracks: Lil Earl, Bear Steaks, Ocean Smock, Shotgun Draw, Broke Routine & Late For Dinner
