Album Review: Sexyy Red – Yo Favorite Trappa Favorite Rappa

Finding the Flow: Why Yo Favorite Trappa Favorite Rappa Trust Misses the Mark

In March, I checked out my first full Sexyy Red project, 2023’s Hood Hottest Princess, and I wasn’t blown away. There were elements I enjoyed and a few songs I liked alright, but overall, it was rough. Normally, I’d just move on, but when I saw she had dropped recently, I had the urge to check it out. I didn’t go in with high expectations—maybe just the hope of changing my mind and finding a few good tracks. Sadly, I was mistaken.

As I’ve said before, it’s not the content I dislike; it’s the delivery. For the most part, those issues continued here on Yo Favorite Trappa Favorite Rappa. The flows and rhyme schemes are very mediocre; I’m thankful she was actually rhyming, but that’s such a low bar. It would be one thing if the verses were fire and the hooks were trash, or vice versa, but both being subpar is a tough listen. On top of that, the lyrical content is non-existent. Almost nothing here is catchy or pleasing to the ear.

Out of 18 songs, I found about five to be tolerable where Sexyy Red actually caught a flow. Some of those were basically remakes or reworks of songs that are already hits, like “Rackies” and “Hood Bitch.” However, tracks like “Tatted ASF” feature one of the worst flows to ever touch a Metro Boomin beat. “If You Want It” utilizes a great sample, but she does absolutely nothing with it. The best song here (or at least the one most likely to catch traction) is probably “All Da Hoes,” but even then, it isn’t a standout track.

I tried, and I can’t even say it’ll be my last time checking in; apparently, I’m a glutton for punishment. There are aspects I like, and sometimes it feels like she is right on the edge of winning me over. Other times, it feels like I’m miles away. I just wish the rapping was a few notches better, but the skill level just doesn’t do it for me. There are plenty of other artists delivering the same content in a much more listenable way.

Album Rating: 👑👑👑 (3/10)

Standout Tracks: “Hang Wit a Bad Bitch,” “All Da Hoes”
