Cruising the Strip: Shoreline Mafia Refines Their Lane with a Filthy, Funk-Fueled Sophomore Duo Effort

Released May 1st 2026
Coming off the regional success of their run as a quartet from 2016–20, the West Coast collective Shoreline Mafia has reemerged as a duo (OHGEESY & Fenix Flexin) and cooked up BIDNESS IS BOOMIN in 2026. While being LA-based, the group brings a unique blend of what feels like a slight Bay Area sound, coupled with a hint of that Detroit bounce and crazy classic samples, which manages to create something unique in what I can only call “bounce music.” The result? While not perfect, the formula works on this project.
The opening track, “Planet of the Apes,” feels like you could throw Giovanni Payroll or 42 Dugg on it and not miss a beat with a D-Town sound; however, GEESY and Fenix manage to put their own West Coast spin on it, creating a good lead-in for the album. Tracks like “WE LIKE TO PARTY,” “TAKE YOU HOME,” and “WOOD WIRE BUFFS” can only be described as fun music. No fluff, no frills—just head-bobbing, carefree music. The drawback: if you’re looking for crazy bar flips or introspective moments, this won’t be your cup of tea. Being a compact 8 songs and 19 minutes, the lane for this project feels more like a quick cruise on the strip on a cool Saturday night than a balanced album for a long road trip type of fare, and I’m cool with that.
The production on this album is the shining star. While GEESY and Fenix find their pockets on the tracks, some of the sampling on this project is outright filthy and crazy creative. From Lisa Lisa (“TAKE U HOME”) to Connie (“ROCKIN”), the duo and producers take those forgotten ’80s pop-lockin’ joints and flip them modern to create something refreshing and fun.
To wrap this up, I am appreciative when artists find their lane. With Shoreline Mafia, rebranding as a duo while picking production that fits their style seems to have been the right move. While BIDNESS IS BOOMIN might not appeal to everyone, what it brings to the table is worth a listen and perfect timing for those upcoming summer nights.
