Wiz & Curren$y Level Up on Roofless Disc 2

It’s crazy that this is already the fifth Wiz Khalifa release I’ve heard this year, complete with all the wild ups and downs that have come with it. But Roofless Records For Drop Tops: Disc 2 is easily Wiz’s best project of the year—and quite possibly Curren$y’s as well. I really enjoyed Disc 1, but there’s no doubt that Disc 2 takes everything to another level.
Many of the small issues I had with Disc 1 feel ironed out here. There are fewer Wiz hooks, replaced instead by Curren$y’s smooth, laid-back deliveries or no hook at all. That approach works incredibly well, blending perfectly with Harry Fraud’s heavenly, atmospheric production. Nothing feels forced. The beats breathe naturally, and the whole album comes across like a raw, unfiltered joint—pure and authentic from start to finish.
“Pink Panther” is a perfect opener: a slow, calm beat that lets Spitta set the tone before Wiz slides in seamlessly. The two trade verses back and forth like Harlem Globetrotters showboating on the court—effortless chemistry and pure joy. Then “The Coin Toss” flips the script with a beat that had me slightly worried at first, only for Curren$y to ignite everything the moment he hits the line: “These Harry Fraud beats we don’t skip through these, we wreck em all.” From there, the fuse is lit. It’s an undeniable Jet Life/Taylor Gang banger.
That said, I can’t let Curren$y steal all the shine—Wiz Khalifa deserves his flowers too. I’ve been tough on him in some reviews this year, but on this project he delivers exactly what I want to hear. His flows are sharp, his raps feel authentic and mature, and he wisely holds back on the melodic auto-tune moments. Even as an established big brand, he still spits lines like “Tryna keep my streams up, workin’ to get my brand big,” showing that hungry grind mindset hasn’t left him. That kind of humility and drive is refreshing.
Clocking in at just 20 minutes, the album flies by with a completely skipless tracklist. Standouts for me include “The Coin Toss,” “Champagne Bottle Emotes,” “Smoke N’ Pray,” “Storm Shadow & Snake Eyes,” and “Z28.”
Overall, this is arguably my favorite Wiz Khalifa and Curren$y collab to date—which says a lot given their strong history together. For my taste, it might even top their previous joint efforts. Whether or not that holds up after more spins, one thing is clear: we’re witnessing another classic addition to both artists’ discographies.
