Album Review – Paul Wall – Fortune & Glory

Paul Wall’s Fortune & Glory: Smooth Luxury from a Texas Vet

Album cover featuring two classic cars in a garage setting with the title 'Fortune Glory' by Paul Wall prominently displayed.

Last year’s collaborative album with DJ Fresh was the moment it really clicked for me: Paul Wall has fully evolved into a lifestyle rapper. He’s still deeply rooted in Texas, but he’s been riding an incredibly smooth wave lately, and that momentum carries straight into Fortune & Glory.

Everything on this project feels polished and luxurious, perfectly in tune with the current chapter of Paul’s career. The “grill money” era is in full effect—his music now drips with the confidence of someone living large while never forgetting where he started. You get classic Paul Wall hustle raps, but they’re draped in a thick layer of high-end luxury: top-shelf weed, candy-painted slabs, shining grills, and heavy jewelry. These are all topics he’s touched on for years, but the production here sounds noticeably more expensive and cinematic, elevating the same lifestyle into something that feels bigger and more refined. Yet the Southern grit and authenticity remain intact.

The first two-thirds of the album are straight fire. From the celebratory opener “I Want It All” through the introspective “RIP Old Me,Paul delivers vibrant, hard-knocking beats paired with varied storytelling that even gets genuinely personal at times. The energy stays high and the replay value is excellent in this stretch. The final third shifts into more somber production and reflective themes. While a few tracks still landed with me, the mood change cooled things off compared to the front half and didn’t quite hit the same peak.

Paul Wall continues to prove why he remains one of the most reliable veterans in hip-hop. Fortune & Glory isn’t just another release—it’s a confident, well-crafted statement from an artist who has mastered the balance between nostalgia and growth. The luxurious production, authentic Texas flavor, and consistent quality make this a standout project in his catalog. Whether you’re a longtime fan or new to his sound, this album is an easy recommendation. Spin it front to back and enjoy the ride. Paul Wall is still winning, and Fortune & Glory is the perfect soundtrack for that victory lap.
