It doesn’t all hit the highest heights, but Uncle Al’s 12-minute EP still packs plenty of heat

Released June 19th 2026
The day before its release, The Alchemist let us know LIQUID FORM was dropping. It’s a very short EP, but one packed with high-caliber names. Not that I need convincing to listen to an Alchemist project, so of course I had to dive in—especially with the MCs involved. At only four songs and around 12 minutes, it is more than worth checking out.
“Gutter Pain” starts the EP, a track featuring the legendary Kool G Rap. It’s a good song, but it didn’t quite hit the heights I’d expect from a collaboration between The Alchemist and Kool G. “Beat Like A Key” features 2 Chainz, and I really like the continued chemistry between these two after “Life Is…”. It feels a bit like a freestyle, which 2 Chainz is arguably one of the best to pull off and turn into a full song; he’s easily one of the most underrated in that regard. While it’s a good track, I’m slightly mixed on the hook, which holds it back from being truly great for me.
“Streets Don’t Change” is the third song, and Conway The Machine absolutely slaughtered it. He’s already on a roll this year following his recent mixtape, I HEARD YOU PAINT HOUSES. I always expect Conway to deliver, and he did with what is arguably my favorite track on the EP. However, as a big Boldy James fan, I’d be lying if I said “On The Spectrum” wasn’t neck and neck for my top spot. Boldy and Alchemist are one of the best rapper/producer duos in hip-hop right now, and “On The Spectrum” keeps that winning streak alive.
This project was short but brought some serious heat. While I was hoping a few songs would hit just a bit harder, there wasn’t a single bad track here. When it comes to the talent involved, it’s hard to go wrong.
