Out of the gates, La Reezy takes a commanding lead

I’ve been doing my best to boost La Reezy and hold him as high as possible. As more time passes, he’s grown to the point where he barely needs folks like me shouting him out anymore—but of course, I’ll keep doing it anyway. Haha.
If I’m not mistaken, this is technically being considered La Reezy’s debut album, and in my opinion, it’s the perfect body of work to carry that label.
Clocking in at just 35 minutes across 13 tracks, the project moves quickly in the best way possible. La Reezy keeps the momentum rolling from start to finish, bringing his absolute A-game throughout. This feels like some of the sharpest rapping and most refined flows we’ve heard from him yet—rivaled only by Pardon Me, I’m Different. One thing I’ve always loved about La Reezy is his genuine positivity, which shines through and reinforces his authenticity. I hope the industry never beats that out of him. I have real faith, though, that he’ll stay above most of the industry nonsense as he continues to grow older and evolve musically.
Curly Head Boy makes for a strong opener, and its seamless transition into Hot is genuinely impressive. Hot was the first track that fully caught my attention—the way La Reezy plays with the concept is clever, especially when he drops the line, “this experience can’t be microwaved.” It’s a small bar that says a lot.
Family Bizzy, a previous single, is heartfelt and proves to new listeners right away that La Reezy is far from a shallow artist. It’s a beautiful ode to family. Pretty Girl Bullshit is another standout I can already see some people sleeping on—which would ironically play right into the song’s message. Plenty might dismiss a track about “pretty girl problems” as dumb, but I’d bet La Reezy has pretty girls everywhere bumping it and relating hard. Smart man.
There are so many standout tracks here that the best advice is simply to press play and let the album run. Some of my personal favorites beyond the ones mentioned include Normal Struggles, Melanate It, Aight, Gold Chains, and We Live.
La Reezy stays consistent, constantly dropping music and feeding his fans. But when he delivers an upper-echelon project like this, it hits on a whole different level. For me, this is easily a top 3 La Reezy project—and I could honestly argue it’s top 1 or 2. If this is indeed his debut album, then it delivered in every way. As always, I can’t wait to see what he brings next. I suspect great things ahead.
