From KARRAHBOO’s petty bars and Akeem Ali’s retro grooves to Kojo Funds’ tropical escapes—here are our quick takes on the latest drops.

Welcome to Quick Spinz! 💿
With so much new music dropping every week, we simply don’t have the time to write a massive, deep-dive review for every single project—but we still want to talk about what we’re listening to! This new bite-sized segment cuts straight to the chase for albums and EPs that we couldn’t give a full write-up. We are stripping away the fluff and giving you the rapid-fire highlights: the spins (what we loved), the skips (what we didn’t), and the final score so you know exactly what deserves a spot in your rotation.

💿 KARRAHBOO – NOT DA 2
(Released September 4, 2026) – Reviewed By: Li (@theculturedecides)
✅ WHAT WE LIKED (The Spins)
- Her relaxed, melodic flow (definitely giving Veeze vibes 🧊)
- Unhinged & petty lyrics (praying a man loses his parlay is crazy work 😭💸)
- Fire beat selection from start to finish 🎧
- Smart features! Monaleo & K3 were perfectly in their element 🔥
❌ WHAT WE DISLIKED (The Skips):
- Got a little repetitive across the 11 tracks 🔁
- Lacked hard-hitting bars 📉
- The pen game needs a level-up to carry this lazy cadence ✍️
- Felt a little too catered to the TikTok crowd at times 📱
Standout Tracks: INSIDE THE BOOTH, WYO FT MONALEO, MAKE HER DANCE FT K3, UNDERSTAND ME
🎯 Final Quick Spinz Score: 👑👑👑👑👑 (5/10)

💿 Akeem Ali – The Texture Tape 3
(Released July 21, 2026) – Reviewed By: Li (@theculturedecides)
✅ WHAT WE LIKED (The Spins):
- The Fabric Theme: 🧵 We love the creative concept! Naming every track after a piece of fabric (from Rayon to Yarn) is a nice touch, and the vibe of each song perfectly matches its title
- The Nostalgia: 🕺 Akeem has a superpower for teleporting listeners back in time. The groovy, disco-infused production gives off amazing old-school energy (especially the 80s workout vibes on Spandex)
- Elite Versatility: 📦 You can’t put him in a box! He seamlessly blends metaphoric bars with smooth, “Silk Sonic” style R&B vocals for the grown folks.
- The Substance: 🧠 Amidst the groovy beats, he still brings heavy Jackson, MS pride and introspective moments where he opens up about his wrongs.
❌ WHAT WE DIDN’T LIKE (The Skips):
- Honestly, no real misses! 🤷🏾♂️
Standout Tracks: Acrylic, Spandex, Silk, Snakeskin, Velvet
Album Rating: 👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑 (8/10)

💿 Kojo Funds – It’s Me Again
(Released August 21, 2026) – Reviewed By: DeeWeb
✅ WHAT WE LIKED (The Spins):
- Island Escapism: 🌴 Pure good vibes! This is the ultimate “lay up with your significant other on a tropical beach” type of soundtrack
- Solid Production: 🎶 The beat selection is smooth across the board—not a single bad instrumental on the project
- Earworm Melodies: 🪝 Kojo delivers some seriously catchy hooks that make for an easy, feel-good listen
❌ WHAT WE DISLIKED (The Skips):
- Repetitive Themes: 🔁 The tape gets a bit redundant, with very similar topics carrying over from track to track
- Too Niche: 🎧 It heavily relies on you being in a specific mood. It’s not exactly something we’re throwing on for a typical, everyday rotation
- Dated Pen Game: ✍️ The lyricism is very simplistic and honestly feels a little stuck in the past. (Seriously, we haven’t heard anyone talk about smoking a “bag of Dro” since the Obama era 😭🍃)
🎯 Final Quick Spinz Score: 👑👑👑👑👑👑 (6/10)
