Artist Name: Your Boy Posca

Hometown: Belgium

Hailing from a small, isolated village in Belgium, producer and rapper Your Boy Posca has channeled the trials of a difficult childhood and small-town alienation into a formidable music career. Overcoming early bullying and a local environment entirely disconnected from hip-hop culture, Posca turned his youthful rage into creative fuel. Today, he boasts an underground resume that many independent artists dream of, notably producing a trifecta of projects with Detroit heavyweight Boldy James and collaborating with the gritty Griselda roster. Known for his highly “visual” approach to beat-making and his unapologetic authenticity in an industry he often finds pretentious, Posca is proving his early doubters wrong. We caught up with the Belgian talent to discuss his roots, his inspirations, and what fans can expect next as he steps back to the mic.

Q: Can you tell us about your background? Where did you grow up, and how has that influenced your music?

A: I was born in a small village where people are like 99% white & racist. I started listening to rap music when I was sum like 9 years old. Of course, all the people were making fun of me because rap didn’t have the same hype back in the days, especially in a small village in the most natural state of Belgium. No cities, no culture. I had a terrible childhood (no details), also was obese, so I was bullied as a child. All of that combined gave me more rage and power to get into making music and maybe one day being successful.

Q: What was your early introduction to music and hip-hop? Do you have any specific artists or experiences that inspired you?

A: I started music by rapping. Then I stopped for a few years as I was producing. But I’m still rapping and have some projects on the stove as a rapper. I’m a lyrics guy, so my biggest influence as rapper was Caballero, a super technical Belgian MC. For international, Alchemist was my favorite producer, Wheezy too. When I discovered Boldy James through ALC, he instantly became my favorite English speaking rapper.

Q: When did you start making music, and what was your first project?

A: I dropped a lil ep when I was 14, but pretty sh*tty so no comment lol. In 2023 I dropped my first beat tape « Hi Joe » on the dsp’s, then we dropped the 1LB exclusive vinyl at the end of 2023, so yeah that was my first official project with an artist as a producer. And sheeeeesh that was with Boldy James lol!

Q: How would you describe your style and sound? What sets you apart from other artists?

A: Everything I make/create is « visual » like a scene of something. Even when I have to mix a track, I’ll see the scene of what’s happening and work with this vision. Does that make sense?

My style is the biggest waffle style.

Q: What challenges have you faced as an independent artist in the hip-hop scene? How have you overcome them?

A: Not being seen as serious by people.

In the French/Belgian industry it’s 95% full of haughty people who won’t hesitate to be condescending to you if they don’t know you, or if you’re not friends with their friends or sum, even if you’ve made great works. Which is my case, I mean I don’t wanna sound cocky but I dropped 3 projects with Boldy James, worked wit a couple of Griselda artists, and people over here still acting the same.

Q: How do you promote your music and connect with your audience? Do you have any tips for other independent artists?

A: Just being real. I don’t do a lot of promotion. Keep it real and people will like you or hate you. But at the end of the day, if you’re talented and real, you’re gonna make it.

Q: What has been your proudest moment in your music career so far?

A: When my momma told me she knew I would do it one day. Cause she always trusted in me from the beginning.

Q: Can you tell us about your latest project? What can fans expect from it?

Me as a rapper.

More Griselda.

More Waffle.

Q: How can people support you and your music as an independent artist?

A: Stream my tracks, come to see me live performing. People already show so much love and I thank them all.
